ICPC to arraign El-Rufai today over alleged fraud, money laundering in Kaduna courts
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has concluded plans to arraign Nasir El-Rufai, former Kaduna State Governor, over alleged corruption-related offences, including fraud, abuse of office and money laundering.
The ICPC, in a statement by John Odey, Head of Media and Public Communications, disclosed that El-Rufai will be arraigned alongside one Joel Adoga before the Federal High Court of Nigeria sitting in Kaduna on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
According to the commission, the case, marked FHC/KD/73/2026, borders on allegations of conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering.
In a related development, the anti-graft agency has also filed a separate charge against El-Rufai and another defendant, Amadu Sule, before the Kaduna State High Court.
The second case, with suit number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, contains charges ranging from abuse of office and fraud to intent to commit fraud and conferring undue advantage.
The ICPC stated that both cases were filed on March 18, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to prosecute high-profile corruption cases.
While the arraignment at the Federal High Court has been scheduled, the date for the hearing at the Kaduna State High Court is yet to be fixed and will be communicated in due course.
The commission further confirmed that El-Rufai has been duly served with the charges.
The ICPC said it remains committed to upholding due process and the rule of law in the discharge of its mandate.
