Barcelona crowned La Liga Champions

Barcelona were crowned back-to-back Spanish champions after defeating Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clásico to move 14 points clear at the top of La Liga with three games remaining.

Marcus Rashford scored a stunning free-kick before Ferran Torres added a second as Barcelona sealed their 29th La Liga title in style at the Nou Camp.

Both goal scorers dedicated their strikes to head coach Hansi Flick, running to embrace the German manager following the recent death of his father, which was announced shortly before kick-off.

Barcelona needed only two early goals to secure victory on an emotional evening for Flick, who remained on the touchline despite his personal loss.

The victory marked only the second time in La Liga history that the result of an El Clasico directly decided the league title.

The only previous occurrence came in 1932, when a 2-2 draw between the rivals handed Real Madrid the La Liga title.

After enduring a three-year wait without the title, Barcelona have now won La Liga in three of the last four seasons.

Flick, who replaced Xavi Hernandez in 2024 after successful spells with Bayern Munich and Germany, has now guided Barcelona to league titles in both of his seasons in charge.

The Blaugrana’s latest success takes their tally to 29 La Liga crowns, second only to Real Madrid’s record 36 titles, while Atletico Madrid remain third with 11.

Barcelona have now won five trophies under Flick, including two Spanish Supercopas and last season’s Copa del Rey.
