Amazon concert 4.0 records resounding success at Freedom Park Lagos
Lagos, Nigeria — The fourth edition of the Amazon Concert recorded a resounding success on April 11, 2026, as Freedom Park Lagos came alive with music, culture, comedy and a powerful celebration of women in the creative industry.
Themed “Legacy & Her Voice,” this year’s edition delivered a memorable posthumous tribute to the late music icon Onyeka Onwenu, while also spotlighting the strength, talent and artistic range of women in Nigeria’s music and entertainment space.
From the quality of performances to the audience response, the evening lived up to its billing as one of Lagos’ notable female-focused live music platforms. The concert drew a vibrant crowd of dignitaries, industry stakeholders, cultural advocates, corporate guests and music lovers, creating an atmosphere that reflected both celebration and purpose.
A major highlight of the night was the all-female lineup of performers, which featured Ego, Temilayo, Ashney, Alula Okposo, Sax O Queen, and the all-female Coloz Band. Each act brought a distinct voice and stage presence to the concert, thrilling the audience with performances that ranged from soulful delivery and instrumental brilliance to energetic band-led music.
The tribute to Onyeka Onwenu gave the evening a deeper emotional weight. More than a celebration of music, Amazon Concert 4.0 became a reminder of the lasting influence of women whose voices have shaped Nigerian culture across generations. The theme, “Legacy & Her Voice,” was reflected throughout the night, as the performers honoured the past while asserting the relevance of female creativity in today’s entertainment industry.
The event also received a lively boost from Chigul, whose comedy performance added humour and warmth to the evening. The programme was elegantly hosted by Yeni Kuti and Elvina Ibru, whose presence, charisma and seamless coordination helped sustain the rhythm and energy of the concert from start to finish.
The organisers expressed special appreciation to the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, for attending the event and supporting initiatives that promote arts, culture, tourism and creative enterprise in Lagos State.
Speaking on the successful outing, Omotola Ibeh, Producer and Project Manager of the Amazon Concert, said the fourth edition was both fulfilling and significant for the platform.
> “Amazon Concert 4.0 was a truly fulfilling experience for us. This edition was deeply intentional — not only as a tribute to Onyeka Onwenu, but as a statement of the strength, talent and relevance of women in the music industry,” Ibeh said.
She said the turnout, performances and audience response affirmed the importance of sustaining platforms that give women greater visibility in music and the wider creative sector.
> “Seeing such incredible female creatives share one stage, and witnessing the overwhelming support from our audience and partners, reinforces why this platform is so important,” she added.
According to Ibeh, the success of Amazon Concert 4.0 shows that the platform is growing beyond a concert into a broader cultural movement.
> “We are proud of what we have built and even more excited about the future. The Amazon Concert is growing into a movement — one that continues to create opportunities, inspire the next generation, and celebrate the legacy of women in music,” she said.
Following the successful fourth edition, the organisers announced that the next Amazon Concert will hold on March 20, 2027, in celebration of International Women’s Month. They also called on corporate organisations, development partners, cultural institutions and stakeholders in the creative economy to support the platform as it expands in scale, reach and impact.
With its successful outing at Freedom Park Lagos, Amazon Concert 4.0 strengthened its position as one of Lagos’ important female-focused music platforms, combining entertainment, cultural relevance and empowerment while celebrating the women whose voices continue to shape the sound and spirit of African music.
