U20 AFCON: Flying Eagles held to goalless draw by Morocco
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles were held to a 0-0 draw by Morocco in their second group match at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), leaving their quarter-final hopes hanging in the balance.
Flying Eagles, seven-time champions, struggled to create clear chances, with Divine Oliseh’s first-half strike the only real threat on goal. With the stalemate, both teams moved to four points, with Morocco topping Group B on goal difference, having beaten Kenya 3-2 in their opening game.
Nigeria, in second place, must now secure victory against bottom-placed Kenya’s Rising Stars on Wednesday, May 7, to guarantee progression to the knockout stage.
Earlier in the day, Tunisia bounced back from their opening loss to Nigeria by defeating Kenya 3-1, moving to third place with three points. Kenya remains bottom of Group B with no points after two matches.
The final round of group fixtures will see Nigeria face Kenya while Morocco and Tunisia battle for supremacy in a tightly contested Group B.
