Olajengbesi faults Wole Oke over Adeleke criticism, decries 24-year tenure
A House of Representatives hopeful for the Obokun-Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has criticised incumbent lawmaker Wole Oke for accusing Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, of neglecting the people of Obokun and Oriade local government areas.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Olajengbesi dismissed Oke’s claims, arguing that the lawmaker’s exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequent criticism of the governor stem from Adeleke’s refusal to support what he described as a “sit-tight syndrome”.
Olajengbesi, who is also the convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network, said: “The only reason Wole Oke left the PDP and is now attacking Governor Adeleke is because the governor refused to support injustice by endorsing an automatic ticket for him to return to the House of Representatives again.”

Olajengbesi argued that the lawmaker’s 24-year tenure in the National Assembly is contrary to democratic ideals.
“Wole Oke finds it difficult to believe a young man like me can work decently, earn a livelihood without stealing from government, and yet have the audacity to challenge him,” Olajengbesi said. “This is no longer just about ambition. As we say in Yoruba—Otoge. Enough is enough.”
He further accused the lawmaker of attempting to impose himself on the constituency while undermining local leaders. “The people of Oriade and Obokun have fed Wole Oke fat, and he has now turned against them by insulting their leaders,” he said. “The people will speak in 2027.”
Olajengbesi reiterated his support for free and fair primary elections, adding that Governor Adeleke is committed to creating an open and competitive political environment in the state.
