In anticipation of increased passenger traffic during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced additional train services and operational adjustments across key routes.
The Lagos-Ibadan Train Service (LITS) will see an extra trip on Thursday, June 5, 2025, aimed at easing congestion and meeting growing demand. The updated schedule includes:
“Lagos to Ibadan: 8:00 AM, 1:55 PM (Additional Trip) and 4:00 PM
“Ibadan to Lagos: 8:00 AM, 11:03 AM (Additional Trip) and 4:46 PM (Note: the original 4:00 PM train now departs at 4:46 PM),”
The move is to facilitate holiday travel for Muslim faithful and other passengers. NRC said it will also operate a special Eid-al-Kabir Train Service on the Warri-Itakpe corridor on Thursday, June 5. The day is ordinarily reserved for maintenance and not part of the regular operating schedule.
To accommodate this, the corporation has rescheduled its routine maintenance for the Warri-Itakpe line to Sunday, June 8, 2025, ensuring uninterrupted service during the festive period.
Meanwhile, the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) will continue to operate on its regular schedule, with additional coaches added to manage the holiday rush.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Callistus Unyimadu, Acting Deputy Director, Public Relations, NRC Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys and arrive at stations early to ensure smooth boarding during the festive period.
Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of NRC, extended warm wishes to passengers for a safe and joyous Eid celebration. He reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and customer-focused railway services.
