In a bold push to empower underserved communities across Nigeria, Balmoral Group Promotions is set to stage the biggest boxing spectacle in the nation’s history, “Chaos in the Ring.”
Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, chief executive officer of Balmoral Group, revealed that the event is part of the “Ring of Hope Initiative,” a CSR project aiming to raise N1 billion over the next three years for impactful community development.
Drive for community development
According to Dr. Adamu, Chaos in the Ring is projected to generate N50 million, with the proceeds channelled towards life-changing projects in the home communities of participating fighters. A dedicated oversight committee will supervise the implementation of these projects to ensure transparency and impact.
“Our vision for the Ring of Hope Initiative is to raise N1 billion over three years to touch lives through community-focused development.
For this edition, we aim to raise N50 million to empower communities via our fighters. It’s a continuous process, community building, one boxer at a time,” Dr. Adamu explained.
Celebrity bout
The event’s headline bout is a celebrity showdown between music stars Portable and Speed Darlington, who will settle their long-running social media feud inside the ring.
The crossover clash promises a thrilling mix of entertainment and sports that will captivate fans from both worlds.
“Any fighter who wins gets a sum of money, not for personal use, but to fund a project that benefits their community. This is how we use boxing as a tool for change,” Dr. Adamu added.
Fight cards
The “Chaos In The Ring” fight card features a series of compelling matchups, including a light heavyweight challenge between Taiwo Rasheed and Sunday Abudu, a lightweight challenge between Ghana’s Samuel Takyi and Nigeria’s Usero Henry Oteba, and a WBA All-African light heavyweight bout between Lekan Muibi of Nigeria and Maciano Commey of Ghana.
International flavour will be added with a middleweight challenge between Mcallister Lee Williams from the United Kingdom and Dodoo Theophilus of Ghana, and a cruiserweight bout featuring Stephen Kadima of Nigeria against Alaoma Tyison Osato Han Mwen of Italy.
Nigeria’s Basit Adebayo is slated to face Suleman Sheha from Tanzania in another highly anticipated fight.
Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, President of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), commended Balmoral for its initiative and pledged the board’s continued support in promoting boxing across Nigeria.
