…as ex-PDP chairmen emerged APC states’ chairmen in Enugu, Delta
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday, conducted States’ Congresses round the Country in preparation for the Zonal Congresses and National Convention slated for March 12 and 16, 2026, respectively.
In Lagos and Ogun States, APC re-elected Cornelius Ojelabi and Yemi Sanusi, respectively, for a second term as States’ Chairmen.
While Ojelabi was elected through a consensus supported by about 2,000 delegates at party’s Lagos State Congress held on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos Island, Yemi Sanusi was elected as APC Chairman, Ogun State Chapter through a voice affirmation by 1,180 delegates at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
Also returned in Lagos State, were Moshood Mayegun as deputy chairman, Adeola Jokomba as secretary, and Oluseye Oladejo as publicity secretary.
Others re-elected include Folashade Bakare (legal adviser), Abiodun Ayigbe (treasurer), Banjo Adedoyin-Wasiu (financial secretary), Ayodele Adewale (organising secretary) and Seriki Muritala (youth leader), among others.
Sanusi was re-elected as State Chairman in the APC State Congress supervised by Wale Ohu, APC Congress Committee Chairman. Other officials elected include Aminat Adigun as State Women Leader; Aderibigbe Tella as State Secretary; Yemi Adelani as State Organising Secretary, among others.
In Bayelsa State, Warman Ogoriba, a former member of the House of Representatives, who represented Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency, emerged State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the Bayelsa State Congress held in Yenagoa on Tuesday.
Emmanuel Anosike, former Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, emerged as the new Chairman of the Anambra State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) through a consensus arrangement at the party’s State Congress held in Awka, the Anambra State capital. J.C. Okeke was elected Vice Chairman, while Obi Okpala assumed the role of Secretary of the party.
Sunday Fagbemi was elected Chairman of APC in Kwara State in a party’s Congress conducted by Alkali Alibe, Chairman of the State Congress Committee at the Arca Santa Arena in Ilorin, Kwara State Capital. Fagbemi emerged alongside other members of the 34-member State Executive through affirmation at the Congress.
In Oyo State, Moses Alake Adeyemo, a former deputy governor of Oyo State emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s State Congress held at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
Others elected were Taofeek Lamidi, Vice Chairman; Fatai Adesina, Secretary; Lukman Owonikoko Assistant Secretary; Joshua Oyebamiji, Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman; Mojeed Delesolu, Oyo South Senatorial Chairman; Tunde Oloyede, Oyo North Senatorial Chairman; Aborisade Sunday, Legal Adviser, among others.
Kolawole Babatunde, a former member of the House of Representatives from Akoko SouthWest/South-East and Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Legislative Matters and Party Affairs, emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
Babatunde, alongside 35 other members of the State Working Committee emerged through consensus and affirmation at a peaceful State Congress of the party held on Tuesday at the International Centre for Culture and Events, in Akure.
In Katsina State, Bashir Gambo Saulawa emerged State Chairman through consensus, while Bala Abu Musawa was elected Deputy Chairman at the APC State Congress held in Katsina.
Adnan Nahabu was returned as Secretary of the party. At the zonal level, Samaila Garba was elected Zonal Vice Chairman (Funtua Zone), Yahaya Idris as Zonal Vice Chairman (Katsina Zone), and Musa Maikudi as Zonal Vice Chairman (Daura Zone).
Martins Chukwunweike, former Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, emerged as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State following a voice vote affirmation at the party’s State Congress held at Okpara Square in Enugu.
The State Congress, which was conducted by Tochukwu Okoronkwo, leader of the State Congress Committee.
Other officials who emerged through voice vote affirmation include Peace Nnaji as Deputy State Chairman, Patrick Okoh as Treasurer, Uche Obute as Publicity Secretary, and Godwin Onwusi as Deputy Legal Adviser, among others.
Also, in Delta State, the All Progressives Congress (APC), elected Solomon Arenyenka through a consensus arrangement. Arenyenka is the immediate past chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Arenyenka now replaces Omeni Sobotie who had served out his tenure as the APC’s Chairman under the leadership of Ovie Omo-Agege, former deputy Senate President, until Oborevwori’s took over APC last year.
The congress held at the Cenotaph, Asaba with APC leaders and stakeholders from across the state present though some party big wigs like Ned Nwoko, Ovia Ono-Agege and Erthiake Ibori-Suenu were absent, a development political observers see as deepening of crisis in the ruling party.
Moses Iduh was elected deputy chairman while Efe Uko emerged as the State Secretary. Also elected were Paulinus Akpeki as Delta Central Chairman, Emmanuel Amgbaduba as Delta South Chairman, Daniel Ossai as Delta North Chairman, Emmanuel Egbabor as State Organising Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo as State Publicity Secretary, Ifeyinwa Sobotie as State Woman Leader and Christopher Agali as State Youth Leader, among others.
In Edo State, delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 192 wards across the State unanimously re-elected Jarrett Tenebe as State Chairman, returning the 36-member Executive Committee for another four-year term in a Congress marked by strong displays of unity and early political endorsements.
The state congress, held at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Hub in Benin City, also produced a unanimous endorsement of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo for second terms in office, with party leaders citing what they described as strong leadership and measurable development strides at both federal and State levels.
The affirmation, conducted through a voice vote, saw all 36 executive positions returned unopposed following a screening process that reportedly attracted no appeals, underscoring what party officials described as internal cohesion within the Edo State Chapter of the ruling party.
