Business owners and traders must need to always patronise made-in-Nigeria pharmaceutical products for Nigeria to achieve health sovereignty and medicines security for national growth.

Okey Akpa, managing director of SKG Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical research and manufacturing company in sub–Saharan Africa, disclosed this in his opening address at the launch of Novadex Night in Lagos.

The launch, which was part of the annual SKG Pharma Trader Partners’ Conference, was witnessed by key trade partners from across the country who had converged on Lagos for a strategic session to discuss the state of the business and chart new paths to more growth and profitability.

Akpa said that the conference has, over the years, served as a platform to get actionable feedback from the trade partners, which has shaped SKG Pharma’s product development and service to consumers across Africa.

Akpa, who is a former chairman of the Pharmaceutical Group of Manufacturers’ Association of Nigeria and the Current president of West African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (WAPMA), lauded the Federal Government for supporting local production through various policies and regulations.

Victoria Okon, head of marketing, SKG Pharma, while unveiling the new product, said it comes in easy-to-swallow caplets, is a combination of Paracetamol B.P. 500mg and Diphenhydramine HCL 25mg. This makes it very effective for fast relief of pain and has a calming effect to aid a good night’s sleep.

Highlights of the trade partners’ conference were a lecture on ‘Growth, Scaling Up and Sustainable Business’ delivered by Peter Bamkole of Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos and awards to high-performing trade partners.

Ifeanyi Health Pharmaceutical Ltd, Sokoto, won the top national award, followed by Simba Pharmacy, Lagos, while Green Access Healthcare Pharmacy, Abuja, took the third position.
